Veterinary Medical Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient practice. There was a good deal of uncertainty as to how it worked and practitioners came up with ambiguous explanations such as wind and qui. Modern medical practitioners have studied acupuncture and its effects and there is an ever-expanding body of knowledge among anatomy, pathology, and physiology explaining why and how acupuncture works in scientific and proven terms. Veterinary Medical Acupuncture is based on this evidence.
Comprehensive Physical Examinations
Making effective medical decisions requires having accurate information. After taking a medical history, the doctor will perform a physical exam and complete myofascial palpation. Critical facts are gained about the patient’s health status and disease conditions during these essential steps.
House calls
Animals are most comfortable and confident in their own environments. Avoiding the white-coat syndrome of going into the clinic is a great way to start an acupuncture session. It is very important to have a quiet, calm environment to facilitate the treatment.
Follow-up Treatments
The benefits of acupuncture are real but subtle. They also have an additive effect. Multiple treatments are often necessary to gain the full benefits. Often times treatments may be weekly for several treatments, then may decrease to monthly, depending on the issue. Some issues may need to be treated long term.
